Summary
Led a comprehensive postgraduate research project focused on Black Soldier Fly (BSF) bioconversion, optimizing organic waste utilization and nutrient recovery for sustainable agricultural applications.
Highlights
Designed and executed a controlled laboratory experiment using 7 organic waste substrates with 3 replications under a Completely Randomized Design (CRD) to evaluate BSF bioconversion efficiency.
Successfully maintained and studied 2,100 Black Soldier Fly (BSF) larvae, meticulously recording developmental stages, morphometrics, and reproductive parameters from egg to adult.
Achieved a significant waste reduction of 78.40% and a bioconversion ratio of 2.44% using Hostel food waste (T5), resulting in the highest prepupal biomass of 24.44 g and a crude protein content of 42.46%.
Performed advanced proximate nutritional analysis for moisture, crude protein, fat, fiber, ash, and carbohydrate, and characterized BSF frass (pH, N, P, K, Ca, Mg, Fe, Zn, organic carbon, C:N ratio) to assess nutrient recovery.
Conducted robust statistical analysis using ANOVA, F-test, DMRT, OPSTAT, RStudio, and Microsoft Excel to interpret experimental data and identify significant treatment effects, ensuring scientific rigor.
